Imatinib is used in the following cases:

acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL)
chronic myeloid leukemia (CML)
Chronic eosinophilic leukemia or hypereosinophilic syndrome (CEL/HES)
Myelodysplasia or myeloproliferative disease (MDS/MPD)
Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST)
Invasive Systemic Mastocytosis (ASM)

Method of Use

Imatinib should be taken with a meal and a full glass of water.

The amounts of 400 and 600 mg should be used once a day, and the amount of 800 mg should be prescribed in two separate doses of 400 mg per day. This medicine can be dissolved in water or apple juice for easier use in people who have difficulty in swallowing, and it should be used immediately after dissolving.

In order to observe the safety principles in dissolving the medicine, a person should use gloves and an apron. First, place the glass for the patient that contains the desired amount of water or apple juice on a flat surface. Each 100 mg of imatinib can be dissolved in 50 cc of water or apple juice, for example, 400 mg of imatinib can be dissolved in 200 cc of water or apple juice.

Dissolve the desired amount of imatinib well with the help of a special spoon for the patient, and at the end of the work, you must make sure that the patient consumes the entire volume of the solution prepared by the patient. After using the dissolved medicine, put the used gloves in a resistant plastic bag and tie the lid before discarding.
